Check-Ups

Your child should see a Primary Care Physician (PCP) for a check-up when they are not sick. They should do this throughout their childhood:

  • At birth or neonatal exam
  • 2-4 days for newborns discharged less than 48 hours after delivery
  • By 1 month
  • At 2 ,4, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18, 24, and 30 months of age, and
  • Once a year for age 3 years through 20 years.

A Check-Up Includes:

  • Health and developmental history
  • Physical exam
  • Hearing screening, when required
  • Vision screening, when required
  • Dental screening, when required
  • Lab tests, when required
  • Nutritional assessment
  • Shots (when needed)
  • Tuberculosis screening
  • Health education and guidance
  • Family planning when appropriate
  • Diagnosis and treatment as needed
  • Referral and follow-up when needed
